Prior to founding Long Island Spine Rehabilitation Medicine, P.C., Dr. Lipetz served as Director of the Center for Spine Rehabilitation for the Long Island Jewish – North Shore Health Care System from 1999-2006. Dr. Lipetz received his specialized and interventional spine medicine training during a fellowship year at the internationally recognized Penn Spine Center of the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. After receiving his medical degree with Alpha Omega Alpha honors from Columbia University’s College of Physicians and Surgeons, Dr. Lipetz completed his residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the prestigious Kessler Institute for Rehabilitation and the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. He was elected and served as Academic Chief Resident during his senior year of residency. Dr. Lipetz received his bachelors degree in biology with summa cum laude honors through the Presidential Honors Program of the State University of New York at Buffalo.
Dr. Lipetz has authored over thirty original articles and abstracts in peer reviewed journals and seven textbook chapters, inclusive of chapters within the leading texts in both physical medicine and rehabilitation and interventional spine care. He has served as a representative to national medical organizations since his residency years, and most recently served as Chair of the Education Committee of the Physiatric Association of Spine, Sports, and Occupational Rehabilitation. Dr. Lipetz is a reviewer for three leading peer reviewed journals within his specialty. He served as the Residency Training Program Director for the Division of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Long Island Jewish Medical Center from 2003 to 2005, and he is an Assistant Professor of Rehabilitation Medicine at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Dr Lipetz is uniquely triple board certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Pain Management, and Electrodiagnostic Medicine. He has lectured nationally, and has been featured in both regional and national newspaper and television segments.

Dr. Lipetz is an active member of the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, the Association of Academic Physiatrists, North American Spine Society, International Spine Intervention Society, and the American Association of Neuromuscular and Electrodiagnostic Medicine.

Dr. Lipetz has been named, by his physician peers, in the 12th edition of Castle Connolly’s Top Doctors: New York Metro Area. This esteemed recognition places Dr. Lipetz within the top 10% of recognized physicians in his specialty area in the tri-state New York area.

At Home
Outside of the office, Dr. Lipetz enjoys running, tennis, coaching his children’s athletic teams, and weightlifting. Years ago, Dr. Lipetz was a competitive bodybuilder, winning multiple competitions, including the natural New York State teenage title.
