Joseph K. Lee, MD

Prior to joining Long Island Spine Rehabilitation Medicine, Dr. Lee worked at Coordinated Health in Pennsylvania as an interventional physiatrist, specializing in non-surgical spine care and musculoskeletal rehabilitation.

Dr. Lee completed the highly regarded Interventional Spine and Sports Medicine fellowship at Beth Israel Medical Center in New York City. In addition to his comprehensive and interventional spine and musculoskeletal skills, Dr. Lee brings his expertise in unique areas such as ultrasound guided injection techniques and, in select cases, the use of platelet rich plasma (PRP) therapy. He treats patients with spinal and musculoskeletal disorders and contributes to the education of rotating medical residents and medical students. Dr. Lee is board certified in both Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation and Pain Medicine.

Dr. Lee has been recognized by his recognized with multiple awards, including The New York Times Super Doctors of New York and Consumers’ Research Council of America America’s Top Physician, over past several years.  During his internship at Westchester Medical Center, Dr. Lee was voted as the Pfizer Resident Intern Teacher of the Year by the Department of Internal Medicine. He was also selected as the Resident Intern Teacher of the Year by the rotating medical students from New York Medical College for distinction in resident teaching in Internal Medicine.

Dr. Lee completed his residency training in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation at JFK Johnson Rehabilitation Institute in Edison, NJ. During his training, Dr. Lee was selected as the Chief Resident for his program.

He has also contributed to the medical literature, including being an associate editor and chapter author to the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Board Review textbook over multiple editions. Dr. Lee has been a contributing author to the Orthopedic Viewpoints on Medscape, a component of WebMD’s Health Professional Network.

Dr. Lee received his medical degree from UMDNJ Robert Wood Johnson Medical School and graduated summa cum laude from the prestigious Rutgers College Honors Program of Rutgers University with a degree in Economics.

Dr. Lee is an active member of several medical societies, including the Spine Intervention Society (SIS) and the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (AAPM&R). He is also certified in medical acupuncture after undergoing extensive training at Harvard Medical School.

Outside of the office, Dr. Lee enjoys tennis and photography.
